One of our members, Joan, was having an issue with her power suppliers and wrote this poem about her experience.

So I hope you give it 100%, and get it sorted fast
The bill I had was staggering, no way it can be right
It has brought me so much stress, I am looking for someone to fight
I am very frugal, nothing is wasted here
Leaving gadgets on standby? Not in here. No fear!
I do not own an iron, tumble-dryer, no siree!
I live in a gas heated flat, a clothes horse is perfect for me.
No dishwasher, I use a bowl, washing waits for a full load
The shortest setting – 18 minutes – on 30 degrees or cold
When I put the kettle on, to make a cup of tea
I measure out the water. I can’t bear waste, you see
I have no fancy gadgets, no hot tub, that’s for sure
So I hope you get this sorted, as the worry is such a chore
If this doesn’t get sorted and I am left with this huge bill
It will be the death of me and I will leave it in my will
You have to get it sorted before the 12th of May
Or a huge direct debit increase will come in force that day
I’m an old age pensioner and I get pension credit
Stressed right out by this huge bill, that has no reason or merit
I’m quite happy for someone to visit to check out all my goods
You can even check my meter, in fact, I think you should!
When this is finally over and the stress is taken from me
I will deserve the minimum of a sincere apology.
