Matt Stone – The Lived Experience Vice Chair of Open Mental Health!
A short bio: “Matt is a Solicitor by training, but is qualified for the role because of his lived experience of mental illness. Matt has suffered with anxiety since he was a child, which developed into severe mixed anxiety and depressive disorder throughout adolescence and adulthood. It was not until the age of almost 30, and no longer seeing the point in carrying on, that Matt finally sought help. Matt is passionate that no one else should feel alone in their struggles and wants to be someone his “younger self” could look up to, to see that he is not alone, and it can and does get better. Matt wants to use his experiences to help shape mental health care in Somerset and ensure that it is delivering for the people it is intended to support.”
