ARK at Egwood Open Day

Towards the end of August, we arranged a trip for our members in order to visit our friends over at Ark at Egwood, a community based project located just outside the village of Merriott in Somerset.

On Saturday the 28th, Ark threw open it’s doors and held an open day, inviting the public to come and take a look at all the brilliant work that they’re doing.

It was a fantastic day out. We were entertained by live music, tempted by the wares on a variety of stalls and encouraged to take part in a demonstration of African drumming – a challenge which several of our more adventurous members eagerly took up! If this wasn’t enough, there were also farm animals, raffles, bbq, ice cream and a Guinness Book of Records rowing attempt.

On the day, we were met by one of our long-time members, Lee, who has been hard at work volunteering at Ark over the last few months. We’d heard him talk so often about his time at Ark and how much he enjoys it, it was a joy to finally see him in action. Everyone at WATCH is very proud of the work that he does and the tremendous progress that he is making. Keep up the good work, Lee!

All in all, everyone had a thoroughly memorable day out and we’d like to thank Ark at Egwood for hosting such an enjoyable event.
