David Gregory-Kumar and Emma Campbell from BBC Radio 4’s Farming Today visited Magdalen last week as part of their on-going mental health week, and we’re extremely flattered to announce that we were one of the groups asked to be part of this experience!
While the primary focus was on agriculture and the opportunities Magdalen provides to the vulnerable, our history with the farm meant we were well versed in their model of support. (Matthew said tentatively, personally thanking the BBC for carefully editing his rambling input!)
To help the segment sound more organic and less like an interview, our group was split in two to perform tasks while our new friends at the Beeb asked questions; Becky, Matthew and Julie made a bench under the guidance of Giles, while Tracey and Gary helped plant peas with Rebecca. (You’ll soon discover the latter had green fingers but no camera phone sadly.) Radio crew or no, I think we all had a blast!
You can find the whole thing on iPlayer at this link and our gratitude to everyone involved below.
This is twice we’ve thanked Magdalen in so many weeks, and it’s starting to get embarrassing. You’re always so affable and supportive when we visit. Recognition is owed to the BBC for making us feel so comfortable with the radio format too. David could tell me he accidentally let the cat out and I’d still find him agreeable. Thank you all so much!
