Earth Hour is a street party designed to raise climate change awareness through live music and stalls. And because we worry about the planet’s health as well as our own, the WATCH Project took part.
The event took place in Chard High Street on Saturday night (19th March) between the hours of 6.30 and 10pm – which is a very brave hour for anyone to be roaming the cobbles! And even if you weren’t fearless enough to risk the cold, we hope you challenged the smoke detector at home by lighting a candle instead of punching a light switch!
Our thanks go out to everybody who helped with our own participation of course (along with the organisers), but extra special gratitude is owed to volunteer Jo – a little lady that offered a big hand. She effectively ran and managed the whole thing for us. Please thank her for my haircut and help that evening.
Julie did ask me to brighten the one photo we have up (the header image), and technically, I’m sure she was talking about the lighting because it’s quite dark. But because everyone looks a little miserable (possibly because of the cold) I’ve chosen to have a little fun and have taken her request to the extreme. Enjoy!
Update: According to our sources, we made a total of £127.00!
