This is a new project that started in August 2012 thanks to a grant from The Big Lottery.
South Somerset Mind’s Outreach worker, Kirsty Cridge, works in partnership with Julie Matthews on the information desk (at the Guildhall, Chard) 2pm-5pm every Tuesday afternoon. The ‘drop-in clinic’ at the information desk provides support, information and advice to those with mental distress. Individuals can self-refer or drop-in for any information and organisations can refer clients to the project.
For those who cannot access the Chard ‘drop-in clinic’, there are other clinics in South Somerset and the Mendips. The Outreach Workers can also visit individuals in their communities where there isn’t a ‘drop-in clinic’ and also, to individuals in their own homes where there is difficulty in accessing services. For more information about these services then please contact Kirsty on 01935 474875 or email Kirsty.cridge@southsomersetmind.co.uk.
The Emotional Outreach Project in Chard soon will be holding Wellbeing activities and life skills classes, which anyone with any level of emotional distress can attend.
