“I got involved with the WATCH Project some three and a half years ago. One of my first opportunities was to lead visits to Folly Farm, which occur four times a year to reflect the different seasons.
We normally have anything up to sixteen members visit the farm at any one time, with volunteers from our project, along with extensive support from Somerset Areas of Outstanding Beauty, coordinated by Kristen Lambert and her team of volunteers. Travel is free to members, supported by various donations and grants.
Members meet in Chard town centre to be transported by minibus. We normally spend around four hours at the farm, walking, doing nature rambles, craft work, art work, photography, and sometimes some simple cooking. For the members, it’s an opportunity to get out of the town and experience rural life.
My sincere thanks are due to Jonathan Farey and his family who host these visits and have been an amazing support to the project, so much so that Jonathan has recently joined our Board of Directors. I have moved away from the Chard area recently, but remain a Director, and retain brilliant memories of time spent in this beautiful Blackdown Hills location and all the kind support of Jonathan and Kristen.”
