Magdalen Farm Overnighter!

Rob (Cropped)Last Friday (February 12th) various members of the WATCH Project got to stay overnight at Magdalen Farm with an open invitation for families to come along too. It’s somewhat fitting that they planned this trip over Valentines weekend because it sounds like everybody who participated fell in love with the place!

Because the weekend was so packed, it’s probably easier to list their entire adventure in bullet points:

  • Members cooked marshmellows over an open fire.
  • Fed various animals and compared them to beloved spouses.
  • Prepared and cooked their own pizza.
  • Participated in natural crafts
  • Rode a horse-drawn cart.
  • And on Saturday paid homage to the late Rob Swankie (a former member) in a touching tree-planting ceremony.

We’ve also heard rumours that everyone watched ‘The Imitation Game’ to close Friday, but because our editor Matthew was unable to attend, they refuse to comment in fear of upsetting him. (And they would too.)

To everyone at Magdalen: While not comparable to the millions of cards you all probably got on the 14th (kiss-sealed and full of praise) please accept the WATCH Project’s more humble offering online today. Thank you so much for a lovely time!

Allegedly, one member was so taken by the place they asked if you were looking for any volunteers? If that’s not an indicator of the trip’s success, then I don’t know what is!

– Matthew.

This Magdalen trip was sponspored by Skills & Learning,  the European Union, and co-financed by Skills Funding Agency. Chard Watch CIC is funded by various organisations such as Yarlington Housing, The Peoples Health Trust lottery, and the Building Capacity fund from Somerset County Council.
