At WATCH, we believe that it is vital to develop connections with other community based projects. Recently, one such opportunity arose when one of our members, Nick, expressed an interest in volunteering with the workshop at Monks Yard.
Abby, our Member Coordinator, arranged for Nick to visit Monks Yard and accompanied him on the trip. Once there, they met up with Jay, Phil and Mike, who have been busy doing a fantastic job putting the workshop together.
The venue will serve as a base from which people can refurbish donations, mend tools, work on personal projects or even get involved in developing a vegetable plot in the adjoining garden. Perfect for those who enjoy getting their hands dirty!
If that’s not enough, there’s also the opportunity to join a photography club at 7:30pm on the first Tuesday of every month
“I found the people very friendly and welcoming and I didn’t feel out of place”, said Nick, when asked about his visit. “I am really looking forward to starting my new volunteering position at MY workshop. I’m also excited about the photography group which will enable me to share my skills”.
We all wish Nick the best of luck with his volunteering position and look forward to seeing all the great things that come out of MY Workshop in the future!
