Becky Marsh – Peer Support Connections Co-Ordinator

Hello! I’m Becky Marsh, recently appointed as the Peer Support Connections Co-Ordinator for Sedgemoor, Taunton and West Somerset. I work for the Somerset Mental Health Alliance like my colleague Sue Jeffery , with Somerset Mental Health Network. I have worked in the field of Peer Support for about 7 years and have been lucky to have worked with lots of people who have been interested in forming Peer Groups through a variety of Peer Support training courses run by WATCH. Originally from London, I have lived in Somerset now for 16 years. My experience and training is in Person Centered Counselling and in the hours that I’m not working as a PSCC I run a counselling practice working with individuals and writing and delivering training courses. I have 3 cats and 3 children who I feed and care for in equal measure although the children might disagree that its completely equal.

Sue Jeffery – Peer Support Connections Co-Ordinator

Hello! I’m Sue Jeffery and I am delighted to be joining Becky to work as a Peer Support Connections Co-Ordinator. I will be covering the Mendip and South Somerset areas. I have had various careers over my working life, and spent about 20 years working in Social Housing where I worked in lots of different roles and have extensive experience of working with vulnerable people and setting up resident groups to help residents have a voice in the service delivery. About 5 years ago I trained as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and run a private business from home working with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and anything else that stops them being the best that they can be. I have lived in Somerset for just over a year, but my husband’s family are from Somerset and I used to live in Bristol before work took us both to different areas of the country. We feel like we have returned ‘home’. I have 2 children, one living in Bristol and the other in Southampton so we are almost in the middle of the two. And we have one very old, very spoilt cat!

Fiona Hawker – Peer Support Connections Co-Ordinator

Hello! I’m Fiona Hawker, recently appointed as the Crisis Peer Support Connections Co-Ordinator for South Somerset and Taunton areas. I work for the Somerset Mental Health Alliance, alongside my colleague Tash Marsh, within the Somerset Mental Health Network.

I have worked in health & social care services across Somerset, for the past 25 years and in my previous roles with the NHS and Social Services, have been fortunate to work with lots of local families, many of whom belong to voluntary organisations in some capacity.

I have lived in Somerset all of my life and have always been passionate about supporting vulnerable people to have a say in how health & social care services should be delivered, as well as making sure that our services are easy to access and understand for people who need to use them.

Most of my working life has been spent with people who have mental health conditions and also people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism. In more recent years, my job has been supporting families and carers of people in crisis, who are being admitted to hospital or being discharged back home. I wanted to continue to help people in crisis, which is why I am lucky to have found my new role with WATCH.

I have 3 children and an English Bulldog called Harry, who is adored by us all. He has been such a help to our family this year during lockdown, he helps keep us fit and entertained!

Tasha Marsh – Peer Support Connections Co-Ordinator

Hi, I’m Tasha Marsh and will be joining Fiona Hawker at WATCH as a Crisis Peer Support Connections Coordinator, covering the Mendip and Sedgemoor areas.

I am also the lead tutor for the Peer Induction programme delivering the peer worker training throughout Somerset and also facilitating some peer group support forums.

I have worked across mental health services and education in Somerset for the majority of my career. Previously in roles for the NHS, mental health charities such as Mind and Rethink, as well as training providers. Alongside my role at WATCH I write and deliver community health and wellbeing workshops.

Whilst working from home I’m joined by two feline colleagues who enjoy joining in with video calls and sitting on notebooks, and two cocker spaniels who alert me to any incoming post.
