South West Deer Rescue and Study Centre trip

Numerous members of the WATCH Project visited the ‘South West Deer Rescue and Study Centre’ last week. The trip was suggested and organised by Andrew, a frequent visitor to the park himself, and played out like a gritty Disney reboot of Bambi, with Mike Gage (who runs the Centre) playing the role of Thumper – friend of Deer everywhere! During our stay, we toured the grounds, engaged in pack lunches, and looked at deer with our eyes. When asked how he found it the following day, Matthew barely squeezed out a content “good” before Debbie interjected with an excited “brilliant!”

I think it’s safe to say that everyone enjoyed themselves as much as the Deer enjoyed the carrots and biscuits handed out. On behalf of those who attended, a massive thank you to the Deer Rescue team for their hospitality and I’m sure we’ll be back for another visit again soon!
