5 groups, 5 places, 5 districts, 1 goal!
National Campaign Time To Change has a campaign day on the 5th February 2015, who are asking the nation to take 5 minutes to have a conversation about mental health.
The Somerset 1 in 4 group who put on events to promote Time To Change and tackle stigma and discrimination around mental health are planning to have a countywide event on this day, working in partnership with other charities and organisations. Playing on the theme of 5 they are having 5 stands, in 5 different venues across the county, 1 in each of the 5 districts in Somerset. While these stands are raising awareness in their chosen locations (Clarks village in Street, W.A.T.C.H project in Chard, Taunton Library, Bridgwater College and Minehead Sports & Leisure Centre) and encouraging 5 minute conversations with members of the public a team of 5 will be travelling across Somerset, aiming to reach all 5 points within 5 hours raising awareness as they travel!
If anyone wants to understand about mental health issues and listen to our members’ stories, please come and meet us and help us to try and break down the barriers in our local community.
This is a hard thing to do but everyone who attends the Chard venue to see what is available and partake in the conversations about mental health is a step towards our goal. Please feel free to attend the Chard W.A.T.Ch Project at the Chard Young Peoples Centre, Essex Close, Chard, TA20 1RH between 11am and 4pm where the W.A.T.Ch Project members and volunteers will warmly welcome you.
