This post is a few weeks late because we had so many visitors on our Open Day, I’ve only just finished waving them all goodbye. And despite the all-girl pop group Little Mix ignoring my invitation and failing to show, everyone still left with a smile on their face!
BFFs of the Project that did attend include the always popular Councillor Amanda Broom, the always welcome Rebecca King from The Magdalen Project, and the always has a seat saved for him Andy Norris of Somerset Skills and Learning. Yarlington Housing Group were also in the collective and brought with them staff so attractive, I suspect it’s the real reason behind why we had so many visitors!
[To list any more attendees like that would risk an embarrassed telling off from the Project Manager (and I’m pushing my luck already) so if you were at all present on the day, please accept our most humbled thanks. :-)]
Like the Dinosaurs, I’m not one to play favourites and save the best ‘til last, but among the hot drinks, rubbing of shoulders on limited seating, and world’s most heated game of Scrabble, Joyce Passmore held a presentation that detailed her personal journey through the mental health system. (If you’re not familiar with the tale, do follow that link. She’s proper lovely and it’s quite the read.)
The only disappointment of the day was found at the end, when it was revealed that there were none of Soo’s famous cakes left to feast on without competition – only crumbs. (Being popular does have its downsides.) Because of this, I personally recommend we get Soo a police escort when entering the building next year. Her Banana Loafs could cause a riot!
